I’m a Sequential Artist/Illustrator attending SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design). I got knuckles tattooed as inspiration to keep myself drawing. Which word is on which hand was panned as well because I’m left handed so “draw” is on the left hand..heh heh, so punny. Literally got them done two days ago and everyone keeps fist pumping me ’cause no one can tell they’re new, it sucks, but they are so awesome people just can’t help it.

There is not much of a story behind this other than the fact that everything literally is Lost Time. Every hour of every day is Lost Time until we die and I think it is important to remember that because we as humans waste so much time doing such meaningless and horrible things. It is a reminder, a statement and a personal creed all in one.
Went into a new parlor and showed the artists this idea. I actually had written it in pen on my knuckles to get the feel of it, and one artist said he loved this tattoo so much he would do it for free!! Sweet! Know I have tow of my favorite words for all to see.

My name is Smashley. I chose the ‘RUDE DAME’ knuckle tatts becasue, you see, I’m not exactly lady like. I drink, smoke, and curse like a f*cking sailor. There’s times where I can be a fiesty one when agitated. All in all, I’m actually sweet little gal that bites hard, when needed. So it can be considered a psyche-out. I’d actually consider it a warning. Teehee.
I love to read and one of my favorite books is the outsiders. In the book there is a poem by Robert Frost which goes as follows;
Nature’s first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
The way it’s described in the book is that “Your gold when your a kid. When your a kid, everythings new. Like dawn, the way you dig sunsets, Ponyboy, that’s gold. Keep it that way, its a good way to be.”
I take it how nothing stays perfect or new forever but even though you will get older still keep your youth. Your spirit doesn’t have to age with your body. I got the tattoo because I’m 20 years old now which means (according to everyone else) that I’m getting older I’ve become an adult. I have a son and I think it’s the perfect time to solidify this statement that even though I’m growing up fast I’ll still be a kid at heart forever and that’s something nobody can take from me. Permanant ink just makes it that much clearer for the rest of the world.
LIVE – I believe people should live the life they choose to live without judgement by others – we all have one life to live – our own. ‘Nuff said.
