Cherry D’vine is always living on the borderline, her two alter egos are constantly in conflict.
Hey I’m Marc from Brisbane, Australia
Love your site and have been following it for a while now and thought it was about time I submitted my knux.
Heartless at the top because I really just don’t care for love or relationships. Free will in the middle to remind myself it’s my life and my choices, and daydream on the bottom as I spend way too much time in my own head.
Not sure if you’re interested but I’ve also attached a picture of the inside of my fingers.
Quelle fucking surprise is a line from an Enter Shikari song, it means what a fucking surprise, because I’m used to the shit life throws at me by now and nothing surprises me. Straight outta compton on the other side just as a bit of a joke.
I’ve had plenty of awesome knuckle tattoo ideas over the years. Then one day I was listening to Dust in the Wind by Kansas, which got me thinking about the Socrates scene in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure.
I realized DUST and WIND would make excellent knuckle tattoos! Representing the Earth and the sky. Life and Death. Good and Evil. Yin and Yang. Opposites. All encompassing. As well as a fantastic classic rock ballad.. AND a totally excellent, important, classic movie to me, from my youth.. if only i had one more hand to add DUDE to the mix… OH! How bout just moving down a segment and split it in half! why not add some hourglasses, too?!
and VOILA! the birth of the most awesome knuckle tattoos in history! Kansas, Bill & Ted, and Socrates! All in one! Can’t beat it! i love em! They were done by the lovely and super talented Tasha Rubinow, at the shop I work at Inborn Tattoo, in NYC.
(Side note: We listened to “Dust in the Wind” by Kansas on repeat the whole time we were doing the tattoo. The play count in the end was 46. It never got old. and it never will!)
“Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.”
hi. my name is Dustan from Indiana. I got electric funeral tattooed top and bottom because Black Sabbath is the only band that has ever mattered on planet earth.
This is Jonny C. and Sam Riot. They are best friends and welders here in Austin, TX.
Jonny got his knuckles done first and say they are a reminder of what life is for him. His knuckle tattoos were the first tattoos he got and now he is fill his arms on up.
Sam loved the idea of HARD WORK and asked Jonny if he minded getting matching knuckles. Jonny was on board, and now the two are working class heroes until they die.
Sam Chronic sends us these knuckles and his story:
After finishing my sleeves and hands I realized I hit a true creative roadblock figuring something out for my knuckles. I wanted to avoid most of what I had seen on other people because either it did not represent me or it just seemed way too cliche.
I work as a year round employee of Netherworld Haunted House in Atlanta, GA doing everything from special effects to set design. Obviously I am a big fan of Halloween and horror in general and much of my tattoo work represents that world. One day I am working on an animated creature with music blasting as normal and suddenly The Misfits “Horror Business” begins to play. For whatever reason I stopped working and looked at my hands realizing I had just found the missing link in my knuckle tattoo design.
Sent the idea over to my friend and tattoo artist – Lew Hands @ Timeless Tattoo to see what he thought. There was some hesitation doing “HORROR BUSINESS” because while my hands are together the design works but each hand individually makes no sense. I pretty much persisted and was dead set on the idea being a huge Misfits fan as well as representing what I do for a living and am most passionate about.
Lew put his artistic touches on everything and suffice to say we are both stoked on the results of the tattoo.
Attached are both hands and my knuckle tattoos – all done by Lew Hands @ Timeless Tattoo in Atlanta, GA.
Rishelle sends us these thoroughly done up knuckles, including the stories behind them all:
Hi! These are the knuckle tattoos that I just got done, and the sides of my hands by Derek Davie at Anchor’s End Tattoo in Buffalo, NY. They stand for the fact that you need to live free of everything that is negative, live free of other people’s negative feelings about you. Live the life you want, the way you want, and don’t give a single care as to what others have to say about it. Live free, imagine peace and love your life. The sides stand for that you have to know more to hate less, less is more and more is less, you have to know hate and hate what you know. Enjoy :]
