  • GLAM GIRL

    GLAM GIRL

Finishing our week out, here are knuckles from Miss Chaos of Miss Chaos Photography, and here is her story:

I am a photographer and make up artist from Palm Desert, CA. I was in Arcadia visiting my best friend who is also my tattoo artist and we worked on a big piece for my arm. After she finished it I brought up maybe tattooing my knuckles the next time I was down. That turned into “fuck it, let’s do ’em now”. After throwing ideas at each other we both finally agreed on Glam Girl, because of me being a makeup artist.

    The End.

  • MARY BILL

    MARY BILL

Catherine C. sends us this set of knuckles and a note:

Bill is my brother and Mary is my sister (done in their favorite colors). Done 8-16-2007 by Cindy Vega at NoKaOi Tiki Tattoo in South Philadelphia.

  • ARROGANT

    ARROGANT

Alex M. sends us these knuckles with a note:

I got ARROGANT cause it fits, not a lot of people have it (that I know of) and its 8 letters…

  • DOLL FACE

    doll_face.jpg

I got these an age ago, but they fell through the cracks. Sorry it took so long Jeremy. Here is what he had to say:

my names jeremy, and the knuckles were done by Brian Mullen at Art Freek in Providence. i chose doll face in rememberance of an old friend.

  • ROCK STAR

    ROCK STAR

These knuckles also come from Exile Tattoo in Iowa City:

To be a TRUE rock star, I believe you have to NOT want to be a rockstar! 1997 by Hank at HARDCORE TATTOO in Cedar Rapids Iowa on Stingray from Exile Tattoo in Iowa City.

  • WAFFLES!

    Hell yes! Waffles!

Bil from Focus Body Piercing in Iowa City had these beauties tattooed by Rev. Matt Cooper. He sure does like breakfast time:

For reasons I have long since forgotten, I decided that PANCAKES would be a great idea for a fat man’s knuckles. I guess anyone’s knuckles would do. But, after serious thought, I decided that waffles would beat pancakes up in a fist fight.

I love this one, but I have to guess that the “after serious thought” part might be an exaggeration…

  • ROOT BEER

    ROOT BEER

This set was sent in by Phillip Kaplan in Chicago. This is what he knows about them:

This guy works at SmartBar in Chicago, near the Cubs’ stadium. He’s worked there awhile I guess, but I went there last night for the first time for tattoo night. I’m a journalism student and, strangely, this is the only tattoo night in Chicago. Weird… and newsworthy. Root Beer doesn’t drink and especially likes the frosty muggs for O’s. He is bubbley.

  • SIDE SHOW

Don M. from Toronto, Ontario just sent theses knuckles in. They were inked by Shawn at Blood, Sweat and Shears in Toronto, which is a place where you can get a tattoo and a hair cut. Amazing. I love it. But on to the story:

“SIDE SHOW has a double meaning for me: I wanted to acknowledge in a light-hearted way that some people still see extensive visible tattoos as a bit freakish, but also to remind myself that my own tattoos are a side show… an important and visible part of me, but not the main part of me.”

UPDATE: Looks like Don got his thumbs done too, check it out:

    Thumbskulls

    And the continuing story:

Here are a pair of “thumbskulls” (rhyms with “numbskull”!) I had done in July. They go with the SIDE SHOW knuckles I submitted earlier and were done by the same tattooist (Shawn). I’m not sure that flaming skulls need much explanation in the tattoo world, but I got these done because I race bikes . . . when I see my flaming thumbskulls on the handlebars it reminds me to focus and go faster . . .

  • TRUE GENT – PURE GRIM

    True Gent Pure Grim

These double deckers were sent in by Giac Szwarc, a tattooist in Wolverhampton, U.K.:

I had been contemplating what to get on my knuckles for ages and i wanted something todo with my tattooing incorporated into it. then the night before i was talking about it to my girlfriend and she suggested these words because they’re the best way to describe me for her and my left hand contains a shorthand version of my alias. My friend Scott was supposed to do these for me the following afternoon and in return i was supposed to neaten out some lines on his. he didnt turn up and because i was so stoked for them to be done i ended up doing them myself, as can be seen on some lines.

  • MISS JANE

    Miss Jane

A sweet set of knuckles from Ontario Canada. Story to follow:

My name is Tanya Paulin and I am a semi-retired body piercer, and co-owner of Studio 123 Tattoo with my husband Bob Paulin.

My knucles were done by Jay Hesse. My middle name is Jane, and when I was little, my mother used to shout “Miss Jane” so that I knew I was getting in trouble when I got to her. It is a term of endearment between the two of us, and one I thought was fitting enough to wear on my hands…
