Hey guys!

Just got LIVE FREE on my knuckles a couple days ago! I struggled for years  and still am struggling as I live day to day minute by minute! I was a prisoner of my own making and suffered for a long time! I didn’t know was freedom was till I discovered a new way of living that I have to work in my everyday so I dont return to a hopeless state of mind! I was always told to be where my hand are and now everyday I look at them it reminds me to be free of self! That’s my story!

Hey Nathan, im 28, married, and my daughter just turned 2.  We live in Buffalo NY. The piece was done by Otis Arterberry, from American Skin Art, in Tonawanda NY.

The reason I had it done, is because i went through something, which was a turning point in my life.  I couldve let the issue consume me and I would’ve lost my family.  Or what i did, man up and decide I was in control and nothing else was.

I’m a Sequential Artist/Illustrator attending SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design). I got knuckles tattooed as inspiration to keep myself drawing. Which word is on which hand was panned as well because I’m left handed so “draw” is on the left hand..heh heh, so punny. Literally got them done two days ago and everyone keeps fist pumping me ’cause no one can tell they’re new, it sucks, but they are so awesome people just can’t help it.

I got these done a few days ago (8/30/2010). I have numerous tattoos but none have really been as meaningful as these ones. I am jaded and cynical and unwelcoming. It’s all been a process. I am not saying I will never love again, but for now, it doesn’t live in my heart. I want to forget the bad things. Welcome the new. Sullen I know, but it is what it is.

My artist really laughed his @ss off when I told him there absolutely NEEDED to be an apostrophe. I think it makes the tattoo. Says he has never done one with punctuation before.

Now i have a good collection and im quite covered  i thought the time was right. After changing my mind several times i finally decided to get LIVE FREE. This is because i like the meaning behind it. I think by being heavily tattooed you are living free and expressing your views through body art.
