NERD

NERD

Ashley J sent these knuckles in with the following story:

I got this tattoo because I’m a complete school junkie. I love every aspect of it. Learning new things, writing papers, studying, listening to lectures. I love the feeling of learning something that I never knew before, and would probably never need to know in my whole life. I expect to have atleast 4 or 5 different degrees by the time I finish school. None of them I really plan to do anything with or pursue any type of career in the fields I study. I just want to spend my life learning as much as I possibly can. Also, whenever I get asked what my standards are my only response is “I want a boy who will talk about calculus with me, and won’t get mad if I correct his grammar.” Whenever I tell somebody what I plan to do with my life, or what I look for in a boy, all I’ve EVER gotten back from them is “You’re such a…nerd.” And I realize they were right. I am. It’s a big part of who I am, and I’m extremely proud of it.

TEX MEX

TEX MEX, originally uploaded by Nathan Black.
I took this photo! I met this lovely lady on her way out of the Jackalope a little over a week ago. Those are her friends waiting for her in the back ground. They were getting a little impatient, waiting to get to the next bar.

Every time I think I’ve found all the knuckle tattoos in Austin, it turns out I’m wrong.

The Tattoos of the Lonestar Round Up

Filed under: 4x4, 8 Across, Collection, Double Decker, Knuckle Tattoos, Lady Fingers, Man Hands, Other — Nathan Black @ 7:36 am

I spent last weekend at the Lonestar Rod & Kustom Round Up soaking up the sun talking to people, and admiring all the amazing cars and trucks. There was music, vendors, pinstripers, artists and more types of pomade than you can shake a stick at. But most of all for me, there were tons of beautiful knuckle tattoos. Check them out after the jump:

BADA BING

BADA BING

Well, one of the good folks I met at SxSW got back to me already, here is the story behind Bada Bing from Karen Bellavia a piercer Custom Tattoos from The Soul on 6th Street, and Amillion Tattoos:

My story is pretty simple really, I got “Bada Bing” because my friends used to call me that as a nickname (long before the Sopranos). They also used to call me “Grape stomper” but that wouldn’t fit. I’m italian so I thought it was fitting. My last name is going on my lower knucks soon so it will say Bada Bing Bellavia!

The Knuckle Tattoos of South by Southwest

Filed under: Collection, Knuckle Tattoos, Lady Fingers, Man Hands, Other — Nathan Black @ 12:07 am

Hello gentle readers,

Last week was the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas. I spend most of the week at Beerland working the door and taking photos of knuckle tattoos. I didn’t get the details on most of them since I was kind of busy. Hopefully some of them will contact me and I’ll be able to update with their stories.

See the whole set after the jump.
